Pee Wee Kaleidoscope Fine Art Print
One of the most brilliant shows that was ever created was Pee Wee’s Playhouse and it ran from 1986 to 1990 on Saturday mornings. It was fun it was smart it was sassy, it was multi-faceted in the levels of people who would enjoy and love this show. It saved us as new parents in 1987 …up way too early on Saturday mornings with a wee baby. It became one of our first family traditions and it brought us so much joy. We loved loved loved it and we still do. It was core to us and our son @shinhito. Happy birthday!!! We are absolutely super fans @peeweesuperfans.
We had already watched Pee Wee’s Big Adventure in 1985 and had watched some recordings of Paul Reuben’s Pee Wee Herman show which took place from 1981 to 1984.
Of course we recently watched the documentary called Pee Wee Herman as Himself, which was very well done and allowed Paul to share their story and it captures the development of the character Pee Wee by Paul Reubens and how complex it was to navigate the world first as a character and second as yourself. It also showcased how much Paul Reubens had to keep his identity and life private because in the 80s it was still not easy come out if you identified as gay.
This artwork captures and honors the explosion of color, the riot of characters, the delightful music and the incredible vignettes that took place within each show. If you missed this magic somehow, I hope you can treat yourself to watching an episode or two and or let this art remind you that only you can create magic and open doors for yourself in this world. It is helpful to have friends to share your vision with and who can support you on your journey. Chosen friends and chosen family are key. Cheers to Pee Wee, cheers to Paul Reubens (RIP), and cheers to you kind people! #peeweesuperfans #peeweesplayhouse #kaleidoscope #bigadventure #fineartprints #abstractart #paulreubens
