My partner in life was born into a Banyan Tree life. He is the only child of his biological mother and father, but yet his biological parents have both been married each four times. That means he has two lovely half sisters and has had seven step siblings cross his paths through this life. One delightful new step sibling just joined in as his dad recently remarried at age 80! This amazing journey is still unfolding. WOW!!! He has had 3 step moms and 3 step dads and has navigated four divorces as a child. Despite that continuous level of chaos and change throughout his life, he is one of the most stable, sweet, kind, generous and loving persons I have ever met. So grateful for them in my life every day.
People always say, how did he turn out so incredible despite all those tumultuous years?
I have a theory about this and it goes back to the Banyan Tree. The Banyan Tree is known for its significant size but it more known for the arial roots that grow down from its branches to form new trunks allowing it spread indefinitely. I would like to propose that my partner became much like the Banyan Tree through their life and was able to keep those new branches reaching down to root him and hold him securely while thing around them were not unstable and insecure.
This art is meant to encourage us to remember to do the same. Whenever we feel vulnerable, or when we feel unsure and lost, we can reach down into our depths and secure ourselves to this place and time through connections to people around us who ground us. We can do the things we enjoy which will make our roots strong and happy.

Each custom stretched canvas begins with a 12-colour Giclée print, produced from a choice of substrates. We then make a custom wooden frame from European knotless pine - in any size needed up to a maximum of 3 metres - and stretch the rolled canvas print over it.
We use finger jointed canvas frames to create corner tension which helps to resist warping. For larger sizes, we add wooden ‘wedges’ to each corner; ensuring the canvas surface remains taut and allowing for easy re-stretching in future years.
All canvas prints are wrapped in a protective sleeve with individual plastic or cardboard guards added to each corner. Additional cardboard is secured over the print surface to minimize the risk of breakages or transit damage. Each print is then shipped in a heavy duty cardboard box.
